- 4,978 vehicle thefts were reported to Gardaí in 2023, up 21% on 2022. Almost 60% happened between 6pm and 4am.
- Gardaí advise a catalytic converter lock.
- Park under streetlights, in a secure car park, or where there is CCTV.
- Report any suspicious activity around parked vehicles to the Gardaí.
- Keep your Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC) in a safe place at home, not in the car.
- Check your insurance policy covers theft and ensure anti-theft measures are documented.
